lyrics
Cleared out my direction went forward
Unknown intersection i’m flooring, stalling stalling
Nothing ain’t normal
Dead pan out here looking cautious
Have the lifespan of a mere mortal
But i can’t spend it all being cordial
Coz my nature is far from forceful
But don’t send me
Coz i can go straight to that darkside if you tempt me
screaming let go, screaming let go
but don’t let me
I guess my minds eye - just went blind
and blindside just took flight
I was reckless , i was flying high oh
Heaven is so far away
Wrong becomes right every day
What you do? It’s all the same
I play the game - Im here to stay
I’m here to stay, here to stay
Knowing theres nothing is something
You had been moving a different direction
I could have been something
to you, to you, to you, to you, to you
I have been changing my opinion
I didnt mean to be ambigious
Yes I just like being different
That’s my decision
Knowing there’s nothing is something
you had been moving a different direction
I could have been something
I don’t know - if this will work out
but I keep it, and I move it
and I hold on and I let go
and its over
I don’t notice -how I
really - could be - something - but I’m
changing - moving - losing - higher - I -
knowing theres nothing - its something
you had me moving a different direction
i could have been something - to you - to you
i could have been something - oooh
can’t freeze me out
im on the move
i see it now
can’t freeze me out
im on the move
i see it now - i seeing doubt
knowing - theres someting
moving - direction
direction i could have been something
(down - down - down)
I’m so far out
Can’t hear me shout
Too deep in now
I’ll freeze you out

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
As their names imply, the two new riddims from Jonny Reebok are stark and shadowy, made for long walks through deserted city streets. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 13, 2020
